GUWAHATI, Jan 19 - The family of Bhupinder Singh, manager of Nagameez restaurant who was hit and killed by an Innova on January 13 at Jayanagar, has questioned the role of the police for failing to nab the culprits even after almost a week of the incident.
Bhupinder was mowed down by an Innova around 12.45 a.m. on Saturday (Uruka day) at Jayanagar Chariali following an altercation over parking. Singh, 35, was from Diphu in Karbi Anglong district.
Addressing the media here today, his family said anyone providing any information regarding the whereabouts of the culprits would be rewarded with Rs 2 lakh and their identity would be kept a secret.
Its very unfortunate that the police have failed to nab the culprits. The murderers have been roaming free. We demand immediate action. The police say they are trying their best to trace the Innova, but after six days we have a feeling that they alone cannot do this, thats why we call upon the public to help us find the vehicle and the culprits, said a kin of Singh.
The family appealed to the citizens to look for inputs on the crime and furnish the same to the police or the family.
According to eye witnesses, the vehicle, white in colour, had a Guwahati registration number and got damaged on its left side during the incident. The left side of the bumper and the headlight also got damaged. The person in the driving seat was between 24-29 years of age with a bit dark complexion. There were three people inside the vehicle, including a man (the driver) and two women.
