Police asked to take stern action in Dhubri gangrape case

DHUBRI, June 6 - The Assam State Commission for Women (ASCW) has asked the Dhubri police to take all necessary steps to apprehend all the four accused in the Jhagrapara gangrape case.

A two-member team led by ASCW chairperson Chikimiki Talukdar visited the district headquarters and interviewed the victim of the unfortunate event that allegedly took place inside a garage at Jhagrapara Link Road on Thursday.

The members also met the police officials and directed them to take appropriate steps to arrest the four accused in the case. The commission also asked the police to take stern action against them, whenever they are caught.

While talking to reporters, Talukdar said that police have been asked to handle the matter seriously and apprehend the four accused as soon as possible. She also said, �After talking with the victim, we have gained a few more crucial information, which have been given to the police and we hope that these information will help to catch the culprits, who are yet to be identified.�

Meanwhile, various social organisations and individuals have condemned the incident and demanded immediate arrest of the accused.

While talking to this correspondent, the police said that the investigation is on in full swing and they are questioning different individuals regarding the matter. It was also informed that two persons have already been apprehended in connection with the case but the main accused are yet to be identified.
