SHILLONG, Feb 20 � All India Radio, Shillong today organised the first-of-its-kind Poets� Meet titled �Ki Khana Parom Ha Ki Sur Poitri� (Folktales in verse) at Don Bosco Youth Centre here.

The Poets� Meet is an attempt to have a better insight on the philosophy of the Khasi Pnar community of Meghalaya as reflected through folktales in verse.

Noted poets and litterateurs held a brain storming discussion on the theme, �Ki Khana Parom Ki Pynpaw Ia Ka Sain Pyrkhat Jong Ka Jaitbynriew� (Folktales reflect the philosophy of the community).

Delivering the keynote address, former president of Khasi Authors Society, Prof SS Majaw narrated the various folktales in poetry form written by poets of previous generations.

In his welcome address, Assistant Director of AIR, Shillong, Akin Pariat, quoting the Forword of SK Bhuyan in the book, �Ki Sngi Barim U Hynniewtrep� by renowned Khasi poet, U Soso Tham, expressed the need to preserve folklore of the Khasi Pnar community for future posterity.
