Poaching mastermind nabbed from Nagaland

MANGALDAI, Oct 7 - A mastermind of several rhino poaching incidents of the State forests, including Orang National Park, identified as one Roizuddin (60) was nabbed from Nagaland. According to Suman Chakra-borty, ASP (HQ), Darrang, the veteran poacher was nabbed by a special operations team of Dalgaon Police Station from Lafabasti area under Namsha Police Station area in Mon district with the help of local police.

The police who were on the look out for this notorious criminal for long got vital clues following the arrest of two poachers from Dalgaon area on Sunday night. Roizuddin, who originally hails from Nalbari village adjoining Orang National Park has been living in Nagaland since the last 15/16 years and used to mastermind rhino poaching with the help of a section of local Naga people, the source added. The arrested poacher was brought to Dalgaon Police Station on Wednesday evening and his interrogation is on.

Mention may be made here that Darrang in the last three months has managed to nab as many as 17 poachers and also seized several firearms and live ammunition, including one stengun, one 9 mm pistol and three .303 rifles, among others.
