PNB donates ceiling fans, bags to students

RAHA, April 18 - To mark the 122nd formation day of the Punjab National Bank (PNB) of India here, the bank officials donated ceiling fans to Jongal Balahu Garh Primary School, Raha, as a part of its corporate social responsibility.

At a function on Tuesday morning, the PNB Raha Branch Manager Alakesh Bhattasaryaa gave away the fans to the school authority.

Prior to the function, held at the school, the PNB, Raha branch organised another programme at Raha Girls� High School. The function was presided over by Kalpana Barua, headmistress of the school and was attended by Dhruba Das, chairman of Raha Town committee, Mridul Hazarika, advisor of AASU Raha unit, besides the teaching staffs and students of the school.

In the function, 10 girl students of the school from poor background were provided with study materials like school bags, copies, pens, umbrella and other essentials along with some cash towards the school fees through savings bank A/Cs opened in their name under �PNB LADLI� programme for popularisation of education among the girl children.

Addressing the students, the branch manager of PNB, Raha, appreciated the role of the teachers for running such institutions for the betterment of children in particular and society in general. He assured the students that the bank would always try to help and give every possible support to the schools so that no child feels any disadvantage for getting proper education.

He also explained to the students about the bank education loan and student deposit schemes. In her speech, Kalpana Barua thanked the branch officials for the initiatives.
