PMO directive to Rangiya Army school

By Correspondent

RANGIYA, May 9 The Prime Ministers Office (PMO) has reportedly directed the Union Governments Higher Education Department to take necessary action regarding non-inclusion of Assamese as a subject in the Red Horns Army Public School being run and managed by the Army here.

This directive from the PMO was a result of a local youth named Md. Matiur Rahman having written to the former and sought suitable action.

In response to my correspondence on the matter under review, the PMO sent me letter No. PMOID PMOPG/B/2015/59584 dated 10-04-2015, signed by the concerned Section Officer of the PMO, where it directed the Governments Department of Higher Education to look into the matter and initiate necessary action, Rahman told this correspondent.

A public protest meet in this connection was also held earlier, it may be mentioned. The said Army school happens to be one of the oldest English-medium school here and has been catering to the educational needs of many civilian children, besides giving employment opportunities to many local educated youths.
