SILCHAR, June 12 - The Tea Tribe Women Development Council, a local organisation for the welfare of the people belonging to the tea garden areas has expressed serious concern on the suspicious delay in rescuing Neha Bagdi, a girl who was in the news back in 2017 when Trisha Roy Choudhury, the little girl of Dr Shubhadeep Roy Choudhury and Dr Satabheesha Roy Choudhury, faculty members of Assam University Silchar was kidnapped from varsity staff quarters last year on June 5.
Daughter of Gopal Bagdi, Neha, a resident of Dorgakona was the domestic servant and a caretaker of Trisha. In a memorandum to the Deputy Inspector General of Police (Southern Range) Debraj Upadhyay, members of the council have urged the DIG to take steps to rescue the missing girl who belongs to a poor family.
The members expressed disappointment over the fact that while police acted promptly on the FIR lodged to rescue the child within a week�s time, Neha Bagdi is traceless even after a year now. �It has been over a year now since the incident took place. While Trisha was brought back home in quick time, what stops the police from recovering Neha Bagdi even after a year,� said Bina Tiwari, president of the council.
It may be mentioned that copies of the letter have been sent to Chief Minister, IGP Assam Police and Deputy Commissioner Cachar. Tiwari informed that they have been assured by the DIG that he would speak to the SP within three days and look into the matter with priority.
