SILCHAR, March 2 - Expressing concern over the threat of river bank erosion at Manikpur, residents of Rajnagar, Manikpur and adjoining areas under Borkhola constituency of Cachar district assembled under the banner of All India Krishak Sabha, Rajnagar branch and submitted a memorandum to Cachar Deputy Commissioner Dr S Laxmanan on Tuesday, seeking his immediate intervention in the matter.

It has been over five years now that Rajnagar village has been literally detached from Silchar because of river bank erosion. Due to continuous erosion, even small vehicles cannot enter the village. Students and office goers from the village are facing immense difficulties because of the prevailing condition, informed Jalal Uddin Laskar, Azir Uddin Barbhuiya and others.

They have in the meantime appealed to the Deputy Commissioner to look into the report on the issue submitted by the PWD Executive Engineer on December 7, 2017.
