SILCHAR, May 4 � The year-long platinum jubilee celebration of Adhar Chand HS School here, which has completed 75 glorious years, began on a euphoric note on Sunday.
Ramani Mohan Sinha, one of the seniormost former teachers of the school hoisted the school flag to mark the occasion. He also lit a torch to begin the celebrations.
This was followed by a torch rally in which both former and present students of the school took part in large numbers. The rally traversed through the main thoroughfares of the district headquarters town and culminated at the school.
Swami Sudhamayananda Maharaj of Ramkrishna Mission, Sericulture Minister of Mizoram Buddha Dhan Chakma, who is an alumnus of the school, president of the platinum jubilee reception committee Apurba Palit, principal of the school Mukta Das Paul, Adhar Chand HS School Alumni Association working president Sankar Chakraborty and secretary Asamanjya Biswas along with the students of the school attended the inaugural ceremony of the jubilee celebrations.
