Platinum jubilee of Morigaon HS, MP School

MORIGAON, Oct 22 - The three-day platinum jubilee celebration of Morigaon Higher Secondary and Multi-Purpose School came to an end on Monday with the end of the second open session.

The first day�s programme started with the flag hoisting by Satyadev Sarma, president of the managing committee of the school on October 17. This was followed by smriti tarpan by Abdul Karim, principal of the school.

The first interactive programme was held among the old and new students of the school. On October 18, the alumni association of the school held the alumni meet which was attended by the former students including the rank holders of the school who stood at top positions in final examinations. On October 19, a colourful cultural procession was taken out by the students of the school which was inaugurated by Ashok Deka, noted artist of Morigaon district.

In the open function held in the afternoon, glowing tributes were paid on the portraits of three founders of the school, namely � Krishnananda Brahmachari, Debendra Nath Hazarika, and Sumeswar Deka. The open session was presided over by Satyadev Sarma. Addressing the gathering, Rajen Gohain, MP, Nagaon appealed to the teaching community to uphold the moral values in schools. Among others, Rama Kanta Deori, CEM, Tiwa Autonomous Council, Mileswar Pator, former president, Morigaon Zila Sahitya Sabha, Shyam Das, chairman, Morigaon Zila Parishad, and Maneswar Deori, noted critic of Tiwa language also spoke on the occasion.

Earlier, the session was inaugurated by Lakheswar Thakuria, Inspector of Schools, Morigaon.
