By Staff Correspondent

SILCHAR, Nov 8 - Despite their centenary celebrations falling amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, members of the Sheoratala Kali Puja Committee along with the residents of the locality have decided to observe the occasion in a humble way by planting saplings near the puja premises.

In sync with the centenary celebration, 100 saplings would be planted to add lungs and foster greenery around the proximity. On Sunday, former Union Minister and veteran of Nutan Patty area, Kabindra Purakayastha took part in the plantation drive and planted a sapling along with others. Former local ward commissioner Bijendra Prasad Singh and other noted citizens also joined the novel initiative.

It is a good decision whatsoever to plant saplings and I do believe that Goddess Kali will shower her blessings on us to get rid of the COVID-19 pandemic soon. The improvement of the puja premises shall also be looked into, Purakayastha said.
