JORABAT, May 24 - A daylong placement programme was held today at Sonapur College here wherein more than 150 job aspirants were interviewed by 12 different organisations for recruitment in different categories.
The recruitment drive was organised by the Institute of Computer Accountants (ICA), Panbazar in collaboration with the Career Counselling and Placement Cell, Sonapur College.
The students of Arts and Commerce streams and the bachelor of vocational (B Voc) course, retail management and IT (RMIT) participated in the programme.
Besides the students of the college who have appeared in their final examinations, some students of ICA and other institutions were also interviewed by these organisations.
The different organisations which came for the recruitment programme are Arun Rathi and Company, Zomato, Satin Credit Care Ltd, Jana Small Finance Bank, Tatwa Technologies, Eureka Forbes, Reliance Market, Delhivert Logistics, Laxmi Narayan Group and also Axis Bank. The interviews were held for recruitment in jobs like front office management, accountant, marketing, back office management, retail sales associates, data entry operators, etc.
Earlier, before the commencement of the placement programme, the job aspirants and the representatives of these organisations were addressed by Dr Devabrot Khanikor, principal, Sonapur College and Jesmine Hussain, director, ICA, Panbazar in a brief inaugural ceremony.
In his speech, Dr Khanikor expressed his gratitude to the ICA and the organisations for their keenness towards absorbing the young talents of the college, who are mostly from the rural backgrounds and said the initiative will go a long way towards disseminating a sense of optimism among the talents of the college as well. The inaugural ceremony was conducted by Dr Dipjyoti Deka, convener, Career Counselling and Placement Cell, Sonapur College and the vote of thanks was offered by Himangshu Sarma, a faculty member of B Voc Course, retail management and IT.
