Pilot injured in Sukhoi 30 crash shifted to Kolkata

TEZPUR, Aug 9 - One of the two pilots who sustained injuries on Thursday evening�s Sukhoi 30 MKi crash incident at Pokhiajhar-Milanpur in Tezpur near Salonibari Air Force station has been shifted to Kolkata for further treatment.

It is to be mentioned here that the two pilots namely Wing Commander P Sharnta and Squadron Leader Ishant Mishra took off their in the fighter from Salonibari Airbase for a routine sortie mission, when it crashed in a paddy field resulting in serious injuries to the two pilots.

Defence spokesperson, Lt Col Harsh Wardhan Pande said that of the two pilots who were rushed to the Army�s 155 Base Hospital here with the help of the locals, Wing Commander P Sharnta has been sent to Kolkata for better treatment.

Squadron Leader Ishant Mishra sustained injuries on his leg.

The entire area has been cordoned off by security forces and investigation is on to ascertain the reason behind the incident.
