Pijush flayed for criticising Fancy Bazar traders

By STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI, July 8 - Some members of the business community in the city today took to social media to criticize Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Pijush Hazarika for the way he criticised traders on the issue of social distancing at Fancy Bazar, the trade hub of Assam, during his visit on Tuesday.

I appreciate your efforts in this difficult time. But please note, business class people also deserve utmost respect. Your way of addressing people in Fancy Bazar in video on facebook by yourself cannot be appreciated. Minister in democracy is only representative of its people, one Ankur Maheswari tweeted.

One Vivek Nimodia tweeted, Its worth appreciation that you visited Fancy Bazar but while walking there you were seen repeatedly criticizing traders, which is unfair. They are also risking their lives just like you. Please educate them instead of threatening to close their shops.

In his reaction, Hazarika tweeted that he was not speaking against the business community per se, but against those who did not maintain social distancing.

Gaurav Somani, Assam Pradesh Congress spokesperson and president of Professionals Congress, also criticized the minister.
