DIPHU, July 31 - The Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary, Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) on Thursday distributed piggeries at the Veterinary office here to beneficiaries from various SHGs formed by ex-cadres of militant groups like the UPDS, KLNLF, KPLT, KSA, and the KYF.
Thirty piglets were given away to each of the six SHGs. While attending the piggery distribution function, the EM for Animal Husbandry & Veterinary, Pradip Diphusa said that this was an initiative taken by the department to help former cadres of various extremist groups and other local youths to start economic activities by taking up piggery.
Taking part in the distribution function, Additional SP Alina Teronpi highlighted the various policies through which unemployed youths can get self-oriented jobs. The �publicity secretary� of the KLNLF, which is under peace talks with the government, Rijak Dera spoke of approaching the Government departments for support. He appreciated the Veterinary department for the initiative.
