PF remittance must by 15th of every month

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Jan 21 - As the provision of the five-day grace period for depositing monthly Provident Fund contribution has been withdrawn countrywide from January this year, the employers will have to deposit the remittance within 15 days of every month from February, failing which they would be liable to pay penalties.

Addressing media-persons here today, Regional PF Commissioner B Lalzamang said that since the impact of damages and penalties tends to affect the employees, the PF must be deposited on time.

The Employees Provident Fund Organization (NER), regional office, Guwahati, also urged the employers and employees to activate the Universal Account Number (UAN), without which no PF form will be accepted from January 1, 2016. The employers were also directed to duly seek the KYC details of the employees and ensure that the UAN is activated so as to make it easy to avail of the services from the EPFO, he added.
