Petrol pump manager rescued in Garo Hills

TURA, April 19 � South Garo Hills police today rescued a person kidnapped last night by suspected Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) militants. The kidnapped person, identified as Kishori Lal (35), was the manager of the Rangsa petrol pump in Baghmara.

A search operation was launched by police today to secure his freedom. The police team came across the militants who had abducted the petrol pump manager and engaged them. The militants fled into the nearby jungle during the encounter leaving Lal behind, said a police officer.

The rescue took place at about 1.30 pm today from near Komlabagan near Patalgittim in South Garo Hills. The police recovered a few arms and ammunition.
