TINSUKIA, Feb 18 � Along with the rest of the State, in Tinsukia district, too, the pentavalent vaccination drive under the National Vaccination Scheme of the National Health Mission was launched today. The drive was launched by Deputy Commissioner Puru Gupta at the office of the Joint Director of Health Services here. The vaccination drive will cover children from six weeks to 14 weeks of age to protect them from five dreaded diseases namely, diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, Hepatitis-B and Haemophilous Influenza-B.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner appealed to the Health officials to enlighten the people on the benefits of the new vaccine which would be less time-consuming and less troublesome to prevent dreaded diseases.

The inaugural function was attended by Dr Shantanu Mukherjee, Senior Health Officer, Dr Ramen Sonowal, District Immunization Officer, and other officials of the Health Department.
