Pentavalent introduced in Morigaon

MORIGAON, Feb 22 � The Pentavalent vaccine containing five antigens was introduced in Morigaon district from February 18 under routine immunization.

The programme inaugurated by PR Borah was addressed by Dr Biplab Gohain, Additional CM&HO, Morigaon. He said that Pentavalent vaccine will protect the children from five deadly diseases � diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, hepatitis B and haemophilus influenza (type B) and will reduce the number of injections required for vaccination of children at six, ten and 14 weeks of age.

In his speech, Dr ATM Eusuf, DIO, Morigaon explained the usefulness of the vaccine which is totally safe and appealed to all concerned to ensure 100 per cent vaccination of the children. Child specialist Dr LN Bora explained the technical aspects of the vaccine.
