Peace meeting on BTAD violence

DIPHU, Aug 23 � To maintain peace and harmony among the religious minority and Hindu communities, a peace meeting was held at Howraghat PWD inspection bungalow which was convened under the aegis of the Howraghat police and Howraghat Town Committee here on Sunday.

In this peace meeting, representatives of religious minority community from Debasthan area of Nagaon district and distinguished and senior citizens of Howraghat localities participated.

The representatives from minority community and indigenous people of entire Howraghat area took an amicable decision so that a stern preventive measure can be taken against the anti-social elements who have spread rumours of attack and violence among the common people in the nighbouring States as well as in Assam.

The peace meeting was presided over by Imran Hussain, a distinguished person of Debasthan bazaar of Nagaon district. The objective of the meeting was explained by Mukul Handique on behalf of the conveners of the meeting.

Taking part in the peace meeting comprising Shyamal Kumar Bania, OC, Howraghat police station, Deuri Lekthe, chairman, Howraghat Town Committee (HTC), ward commissioners of HTC, Ashok Hasnu, Ratan Saha, secretary of Debasthan bazaar Noor Ahmed Chowdhury, distinguished persons of Debasthan bazaar comprising Abu Taher Foijul Houqe and Giash Uddin Chowdhory and many more participated in the peace meeting and a resolution was adopted to fight jointly the anti-social activists are creating panic in the society.

On the other hand, a meeting on peace restoration was also organized by the Bodo frontal organisations at Kalaigaon near Howraghat on August 19. The Bodo frontal organizations appealed to all communities to maintain peace and harmony and to help the victim families affected in the recent BTAD violence with appropriate relief materials.

A relief fund collection committee has also been constituted to assist the violence-hit people.
