DIMAPUR, Sept 28 - Nagaland Chief Minister TR Zeliang on Sunday said peace is definitely a pre-requisite among other things for development of tourism industry in the State.

Addressing the World Tourism Day celebration in Peren district headquarters, Zeliang said Nagaland with all the uniqueness of its culture and diverse traditions, beauty of landscape and flora and fauna has the potential to attract tourists from world over. The theme of the observation, One Billion Tourists, One Billion Opportunities is intended to focus on the transformative potential of one billion tourists, its effect on creation of employment opportunities, and on the economy of the country. These billion tourists have made tourism a leading economic sector, contributing 10 per cent of the global GDP and 6 per cent of the worlds total exports, he added.

Impressing upon the gathering to coin their own goal in the context of this years theme, he said, Let us say One Lakh Tourists and One Lakh Opportunities and manage the tourist inflow into Nagaland throughout the year and not only during Hornbill Festival by taking advantage of the festivals occurring throughout the year.
