PC Borooah First Sunday Chess held

GUWAHATI, Sept 8 � Youngster Nitish Das clinched the title of the 19th edition of PC Borooah First Sunday Chess Tournament organized by the PC Borooah Chess Academy on September 7 at its Chandmari complex here.

Nitish scored 6 points from 7 rounds and remained unbeaten throughout of the tournament. In the final round Nitish drew his game against Uddipta Kakati. Uddipta and Khanindra Barman also scored 6 points from 7 rounds but declared second and third position respectively on the basis of tie-break score.

In the U-7 category Unmilita Pathak scored 4 points and claimed first position. Sahurya Jalan also scored 4 points but got second position on the basis of tie-break score. Anmol Bharadwaj claim third position with 2.5 points.

In the U-9 category Anubrat Barthakur scored 4 and claimed first position. Adreeja Sinha also scored 4 points and got second position on the basis of tie-break score. Nihad Islam Hazarika scored 3 points and got third position.

In the U-11 category Shubhay Agarwal scored 4.5 points and got first position while Arkapravo Rajkonwar and Mridangom Goswami socred 3.5 points each and got second and third position respectively.

In the U-13 category Nirman Deka scored 4 points and claimed first position. Dhruba Jyoti Deka also scored 4 points each but declared second on the basis of tie-break score.

Altogether 46 players including 13 rated players participated in the tournament. Top five position holders were awarded cash prizes and top ten position holders were awarded trophy. Top three position holders of U-7, 9, 11 and 13 categories were also awarded trophy. Pranab Kumar Nath conducted the tournament as Chief Arbiter, stated a release.

Top 10 ranking holders: Nitish Das 6, Uddipta Kakati 6, Khanindra Barman 6, Prachurjya Gayan 5.5, Gunajit Khataniar 5, Manthan Kashyap Datta 5, Lachit Kalita 5, Chiraranjan Bhuyan 5, Prodip Bhuyan 5, Surjya Kumar Enghi 5.
