GUWAHATI, May 7 � The 24th PC Borooah Children�s Chess tournament will be held from May 10 to 13 Shilpgram here. The tournament is recognised by the All Assam Chess Association and will be held in an all Assam level.
Around 120 players including a number of age group state champions and fide rated players are expected to fight for top honours in the tournament. The tournament will be open to children up to the age of 16 years and will be played in two groups namely Pawn group for children below 11 years and Bishop Group for children below 16 years.
Top five players from each group will be awarded cash prizes and trophies. Top two girls players from each group will also be awarded trophies. Top two players from under-7, under-9 and under-13 will be awarded trophies. A total of Rs 30,000 will be distributed to the winners as prize money.
