PC Borooah chess tourney

GUWAHATI, July 7 � Chiraranjan Bhuyan clinched the title of the 17th edition of PC Borooah First Sunday Chess Tournament organized by PC Borooah Chess Academy on July 6, 2014 at its premises in Chandmari, Guwahati. Chiraranjan scored 5.5 points from 6 rounds and remains unbeaten throughout of the tournament. In the final rounds he drew with Prodip Bhuyan. Nitish Das scored 5 points from same number of round and got second position. Prandeep Bhattacharjya and Hiranya Das also scored 5 points each but was declared third and fourth respectively on the basis of tie-break score. Prodip Bhuyan, Uddipta Gogoi and Debanga Kalita scored 4.5 points each and placed fifth, sixth and seventh positions respectively by tie-break score.

Final ranking: Chiraranjan Bhuyan (5.5 points), Nitish Das (5 points), Prandeep Bhattacharjya (5 points), Hiranya Das (5 points), Prodip Bhuyan (4.5 points), Uddipta Gogoi (4.5 points), Debanga Kalita (4.5 points), Deba Kumar Das (4 points), Arunabh Gohain (4 points), Bidisha Sarma (4 points).

Consolation prizes (U-7): Shaurya Jalan (4 points), Unmilita Pathak (2 points). U-9: Adreeja Sinha (3 points), Snehasish Sinha (3 points), Ayan Baruah (3 points). U-11: Shubhay Agarwal (3.5 points), Priyangshu Bhowmick (2 points), Mridangom Goswami (2 points). U-13: Pranit Malhotra (4 points), Kaustuv Deka (3.5 points), Gunjan Deb (3 points). U-15: Kaustuv Lahiri (4 points), Aryaman Tewari (4 points).
