AIZAWL, Dec 19 - The Opposition Congress has demanded of the Zoramthanga-led MNF Government in Mizoram to pay salaries of employees under the Samagra Mission and the RUSA, which have been due for months.

According to the Mizoram Pradesh Congress Committee, over 4,000 school teachers employed under the Samagra Mission have not been paid their salaries since August.

Many of these employees are posted in rural areas. They are facing an acute financial crisis and running into debts, Congress spokesperson Lallianchhunga said at a press conference here.

Lallianchhunga said 69 college teachers employed under the RUSA scheme have also not received their salaries for eight months now. They have tried to meet Chief Minister Zoramthanga and Higher and Technical Education Minister Dr R Lalthangliana, but have failed so far, he added. Lallianchhunga also alleged that a number of employees have not been able to withdraw their GPF amounts.
