GUWAHATI, Sept 26 � Pawan Hans, the premier helicopter service provider in the Northeastern region, is providing succour to the quake-affected people of Sikkim, a Press release said.
It pressed into service one Bell 206L4 helicopter at Burtuk Helipad for passenger services between Gangtok and Bagdogra, for rescue services and aerial survey to facilitate coordination by ground forces carrying out rescue operations
On September 21, another Bell 206L4 helicopter as requested by STDC was positioned at Gangtok to assist in the rescue operations.
Pawan Hans has also been carrying out rescue flights, aerial survey flights to Libing, Chungthang, Lachung and Mangan in North Sikkim. The helicopters have also been used by the media for aerial coverage of the devastation.
