UDALGURI, Nov 1 Lakshminath Bezbaroa was undoubtedly a visionary literary icon of the country whose heart was always filled with patriotism. Most of his lyrics, poems and other literary works reveal his feelings for the motherland and this feature has made him immortal among the people of Assam. This was stated by Dr Janaram Nath, professor of Sagarijan College, Nagaon, while delivering the keynote address on Patriotic eruptions in Bezbaroas works at the Bishnu Rabha Kristi Sangha Auditorium here on Thursday on the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of the literary icon which was organised by the Udalguri district committee of the Sanskar Bharati, a voluntary organisation working for the promotion of the art and culture of the State.
Dr Nath cited a few examples from Bezbaroas lyrics and explained the background and patriotic aspects hidden there. He said, It would be our right tribute to a person like Bezbaroa if we followed the words of his lyrics and songs.
Over 2,000 students from various schools, teachers, guardians and members of the public joined the congregation and sang Aami Asomiya Nahau Dukhiya, the epoch-making song of Bezbaroa and paid floral tributes to him on the occasion.
