DOOMDOOMA, April 24 - Innovator and Padma Shri recipient Uddhab Bharali has appealed to the students to apply their common sense while performing their work.
Bharali while interacting with a group of students on skill development at Shiva Technical Enterprise, Rupaisiding here on Monday, underscored the need to work hard to achieve their goals. The students have been provided training on handloom and textiles, data entry and hardware under the Assam Skill Development Mission (ASDM).
Asserting that in everybody�s life challenge is an opportunity to establish one�s own identity, he said that patience and perseverance is the key to success. �If we want to achieve something, hard work and dedication are a must,� he claimed.
Bharali, who is a recipient of President�s National Grassroots Innovation Award, 2009 and the winner of NASA Tech brief �Create the Future Design Contest, 2013� , gave a brief sketch about his journey. His journey began with a polythene-making machine, and thereafter, he did not have to look back and now total number of his innovations have touched 153. He presented a power-point display of his various innovative products to elucidate the spirit behind such inventions. The latest such addition was an easy and comfortable paddy growing machine and a helping device for specially-abled people. Bharali during his interaction with the students revealed that he was going to start a �school of innovation� soon where he would specially lay stress on science and mathematics teaching. He also divulged that students needed to be trained on how to face interviews and on the technique of attending meetings. Along with the ASDM trainees, students of Modern Academy, Rupai Siding also participated in the interaction programme.
Earlier, Rajib Bora, Director, Shiva Technical Enterprise welcomed the guests. Dhiren Deka, president, All Assam Science Writers� Association (ASWA) felicitated and briefly spoke about Bharali, while Dr Prakash Jyoti Borthakur, Principal, Doomdooma College attended as the guest of honour. The meeting was also attended by Jugal Goswami, Project Manager, ASDM. Journalist Abhijit Khataniar anchored the programme.
Bharali also inaugurated a handicraft and textile exhibition-cum-competition. The winners of the competition were awarded prizes by Dr PJ Borthakur, Dhiren Deka and Abhijit Khataniar. Three judges namely, Dr Aruna Gogoi Baruah, Prabha Bora and Binapani Das were also felicitated in the meeting.
