PATACHARKUCHI, Jan 3 - In a bid to spread awareness against drug addiction and depression among the people, a youth named Khanin Roy from Pathsala town of Bajali sub-division completed a walkathon of 100 kms from Pathsala to Guwahati.

Khanin started his mission on December 28 at around 9.30 am and completed the distance in 27 hours by walking non-stop.

I started this mission to spread the message about the noble cause, he stated.

Sufferings of the depressed and drug addicts have often forced certain youths to take extreme steps in trivial matters, he added.

In his message to the youths he said, The youths of today must not restrain themselves to the virtual world and pursue activities like swimming, cycling, walking, yoga, etc to stay spiritually awake and mentally and physically fit and active.

Roy along with his dedicated team also runs a wellness centre titled Brain and Figure in Pathsala town of Barpeta district.

Previously, Roy had inspired students to take up cycling tours to spread the message against drug addiction and depression in Assam. He even swam across the Brahmaputra within 45 minutes in 2016 and thus drew the attention of the people.

In 2017, three girls from Pathsala covered 200 kms by taking part in a cycle rally in order to spread awareness. The unique endeavour was accomplished under the aegis of Brain and Figure organisation of Pathsala.

Their aim was to generate awareness and ensure good health and peaceful mind of the people in the society, informed Khanin Roy, who has been initiating such programmes from time to time for the benefit of the society.
