Passing out parade of constables held

GUWAHATI, Oct 29 � The passing out parade of the 100th batch of Recruit Constable was held at Assam Commando Battalion, Mandakata, North Guwahati on Friday, stated a press release. Altogether 501 police constables took oath after successful completion of the 48-week training.

Shankar Barua, IPS, DGP, Assam, took the salute of the passing out parade as the chief guest and also distributed certificates to the best performer in different activities during the training period. In is short speech, Barua expressed his satisfaction at the high standard of parade and drill performed by the newly recruited constables.

Keeping in mind the present changing situation, he called upon the constables to be ready to face challenges in their service and urged them to know the issues of child and woman law, human rights, driving, swimming, beside the use of computer.

Earlier, Assam Commando Battalion Commandant S Gogoi, IPS, delivered the welcome address and gave a brief on training activities of commando battalion.

It may be noted that during training periods, the recruit constables have been given special emphasis on subjects like swimming, water crossing with arms, jungle lane shooting, battle inoculation firing, bomb & grenade firing, counter-insurgency, rock climbing, stress management, fire fighting, crowd control, etc.

The passing out parade function was also attended by G Bhuyan, IPS, Addl. DGP (TAP), R Chandranathan, IPS, Addl DGP (Adm.) A K Chaharia, IPS, IGP (Log), R D Baruah, IPS, DIG (Adm) and other rank of police officers, the release added.
