Parts of stolen idol recovered

GUWAHATI, May 4 - During an operation last late night, a team from Latasil Police Station recovered some parts which were attached with the idol of Goddess Tara of Ugratara temple during the time of its theft a few months back.

Police recovered the munda mala and sarpa which were attached with the idol, from the residence of Rahul Ali, one of the thieves, in Nalbari district. Two chakras that formed part of the idol are yet to be recovered. Kailash Sarma, a member of Ugratara Temple Management Committee said repair work on the idol would be carried out by a team of artistes under the guidance of Robin Bor. The idol is expected to be reinstalled inside the main temple in seven to ten days.
