Parties in blame-game over poll code violation

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, April 10 - Reacting to accusations of violating the model code of conduct from the Congress camp, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Assam Pradesh stated it had availed prior permission for its advertisements published on Monday from the authority concerned.

The BJP attacking the Congress said that it was the Congress that has violated the model code of conduct by calling a press meet prior to less than 24 hours before the second phase of polling begins for raising fake allegations against the BJP.

State BJP spokesperson Rupam Goswami said that if the Congress had any complaints regarding BJPs advertisements, then it should have filed a complaint to the Election Commission rather than addressing a press meet. The Congress as a last minute attempt is trying to make a publicity campaign just hours before the polling starts, said Goswami adding that such fake allegations against the BJP will act as a boomerang for the Congress.
