Particular political force behind Tinsukia clashes

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Sept 18 - The Forum Against Citizenship Act Amendment Bill today alleged that the clashes between two groups of people that occurred at Bardumsa and other areas of the States Tinsukia district a few days back were the handiwork of a particular political force which is bent on destroying the traditional amity of the States people.

The Forum has appealed to the people of the State to remain vigilant against all such diabolic designs of this force to divide the people on communal lines. This force has targeted two Hindi-speaking religious communities to fan communal tension with an aim at deriving political mileage by inciting them to engage in fratricidal clashes. Such clashes have tarnished the image of Assam and that of its peoples and hence demand popular vigilance to defeat all such nefarious designs, said the Forum.

The Forum has demanded stern measures against those involved in the clashes. It has also appealed to the leaders of the tea tribe communities not to allow the communal forces to mislead the tea tribe people. All sections of the States people should unite to defeat the forces that are trying to divide the people on communal lines, the Forum said.

The Forum also demanded urgent measures to punish those involved in the reported incident of hoisting of the Pakistani flag at a place in the same district.
