Parking fee collection stopped in Dibrugarh

By Our Bureau

DIBRUGARH, Feb 9 - Collection of parking fees from vehicles have been discontinued since Friday, as per an order by the Chief Executive Officer of the Dibrugarh Municipal Board. The entire parking fee collection system in the city has been mired in corruption, nepotism and the authorities have finally decided to take a call on the matter. As it is, most of the parking fee collection takes place on PWD roads in the city, which is said to be illegal.

As per Fridays order, no parking fee can be collected from any vehicle on the PWD roads, including the parking fee collections from trucks, buses and three wheelers at all places here. These include collections near Phoolbagan, Amolapatty, Panchali, near the Assam Medical College. However, parking collections at HS Road, Cole Road and Radha Nath Changkakoty Path (Thana Chariali towards Police Reserve) will be discontinued from March 31 this year. For all other places, no one is authorised to collect parking fee from February 8.
