Panitola Mahotsav at Baihata from April 15

BAIHATA CHARIALI, April 15 - The traditional �Panitola Mahotsav� and the tithi of Dev Damodar as also the 56th annual session of Gitarthi Samaj will be held at Baihata Shiva Mandir premises from April 15 with a two-day long programme.

On April 15, Kabin Deka, president of the Baihata Shiva Mandir management committee will hoist the flag at 8.30 am and at 9 am smriti tarpan and at 10 am, tree plantation will be held. At 11 am, the 56th annual session of Gitarthi Samaj will be held and at 12.30 pm Dinesh Lahkar will read the �Bhagawat�. At 4 pm, ayoti naam, at 6 pm banti prajalan, at 6.30 pm ariya prajalan and at 7 pm nagara naam will be held.

On April 16, the programme of the day will begin with Usha sankirtan and Mangalacharan. At 10 am, Kanakeswar Goswami, spokesman of Kamrup district Dev Damodar Sangha and a number of social workers of the area will pay tribute at the portrait of Mahapurush Dev Damodar. At 11 am, Shiva puja and hom and at 12.30 pm Pandar Nritya and Mahatmya Prakash and at 4 pm traditional Panitola and cultural rally will be held.

This year a total of 11 bodies of Gitarthi Samaj will take part and they will perform the Panda Nritya of Ganesh, Bishahari, Shiva, Kesaikhaiti, Shibar bahan, Bhagawati, Padma, Manasa, Nandi, Lakshmi, Kali and Mahakali. The Mahotsav celebration committee has appealed to the pious public of the area to extend their co-operation to make the programme a success.
