Panel formed to provide succour to land grab victims

GUWAHATI, May 18 - The State government has constituted a District Level Coordination Committee for Kamrup (Metro) district to facilitate and coordinate among the victims of land grab, police and the district administration to facilitate quick disposal of cases filed by victims.

The committee members are the Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup (Metro) as Chairman, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) of Kamrup (Metro) as Member Secretary and the Deputy Commissioners of Police of East Zone, West Zone, Central Zone and Crime Branch, Circle Officers of Azara, Chandrapur, Dispur, Guwahati and Sonapur Revenue Circles, and the government pleader of Kamrup (Metro) as members.

The committee will ensure coordination between police and the district administration to facilitate early disposal of cases.

It will facilitate prompt submission of the requisite reports by the revenue authorities and review pendency of cases on monthly basis.

It will also provide necessary guidance and assistance to the victims. The Committee will sit once in a month to review the petitions.
