Panel against sexual harassment at DSHK

DIBRUGARH, Oct 1 - The DHSK Commerce College here has announced formation of a committee named Gender Sensitisation Committee Against Sexual Harassment (GSCASH) at a meeting of the college staff and the management on Tuesday.

The meeting was presided over by the college principal Dr KM Bhagawati. Dr Madhumita Purkayastha, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of English, Dr Nazrana Ahmed, senior advocate, Dibrugarh Bar Association and Anju Borkotoky, social activist were also present in the meeting.

During the course of the meeting, a policy against sexual harassment in the college was declared to guide the committee in its functioning by formally releasing the draft rules and procedures of the GSCASH. �The GSCASH is formed in keeping with the Supreme Court guidelines on sexual harassment at workplace,� Dr Bhagawati told this newspaper.

To mark the occasion, a symposium on the role of such committees in institutions of higher education was organised by the college in association with its Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC).

Dr Madhumita Purkayastha delivered a talk on the subject, which was followed by an interactive session with the faculty members and students.
