AGARTALA, Aug 1 - The draft electoral rolls of three-tier Panchayats Gram Panchayats , Panchayat Samities and Zilla Parisads have been published on Wednesday, with total voters pegged at 7,71,412.

As per the schedule, the last date for submission of claims and objections has been fixed on August 8 while disposal of claims and objections would be done on August 13, said an official of State Election Commission (SEC). He added that the final electoral rolls would be published on August 21 to pave the way for conducting by elections in three-tier Panchayat.

Once the final electoral rolls are prepared, the State Election Commission would be ready to conduct by-elections in the casual vacancies of three-tier panchayts. Altogether 2,977 seats of Gram Panchayats out of total 6,111 seats have fallen vacant, while 136 seats of Panchayat Samities and 12 seats of Zilla Parisads have remained vacant following resignation of elected members after regime change in Tripura in February.
