GUWAHATI, March 2 I-League team Pailan Arrows of Kolkata edged past local outfit Green Valley Sports Club 2-1 in a friendly football match at SAI ground here today.

It was totally a lacklustre encounter witnessed by a handful of spectators. In a low-key environment no team could demonstrate the best skills in the game of football.

Malswam Fela headed home in the 35th minute to take the Kolkata team ahead.

After changing over the sides, Sai Nurudeen restored parity in the 56th minute capitalising on a defensive lapse of the opponent team. But the Green Valley players hardly got any time to celebrate as after just two minute substitute Alltwn George fired the match winner.

The match was organised with a aim to enhance enthusiasm for the game, particularly among the youngsters. But the turnout for the match will definitely discourage the organisers.

State Forest Minister Rockybul Hussain and Gaurav Gogoi along with few Assam Football Association officials and team officials were present on the occasion.
