DIBRUGARH, Jan 28: In order to facilitate sale and purchase of paddy, the Food, Civil Supply & Consumer Affairs Department, Government of Assam today issued a notice to set up a paddy procurement centre at Khowang in the district.
In the notice, the department has also informed that the Food Corporation of India will procure paddy from farmers at minimum support price which has been fixed at Rs 1868 per quintal through this centre, a release stated.
The paddy procurement centre will function from the first week of February and there will be no middleman or mediators in the whole process of procurement. The department has also requested interested farmers of the district to contact the concerned ADOs and get ready with necessary certification. The exact date and location from when and where the PPC will function will be intimated further, the release informed.
