GUWAHATI, Nov 4 � Pachim Guwahati College defeated Laxmibai National Institute of Physical Education (LNIPE) by five wickets in the final of the Premoda Kanta Sarma Trophy Inter College Cricket Championship at the Latasil playground here today.
Restricting the opponent to 138 for eight in 20 overs, Pachim Guwahati smacked up 139 for five in 18.5 overs. Man-of-the match and man-of-the-series Ikramul Ali top scored with 65 for the winning team.
Nekibur Rahman (Pachim Guwahati), Aman Agarwal (KC Das Commerce), Rishikesh Pathak (LNIPE) and Samir Sarma (Pandu College) were adjudged as best batsman, best bowler, best wicketkeeper and best fielder respectively.
In the closing function journalist Subodh Malla Baruah, advocate Satyendra Deka, sportspersons Kailash Sarma, Phani Chakravorty, Pachim Guwahati College Principal Balendra Kumar Das, SB Deorah College Principal Dharmendra Nath and organising secretary Manoj Choudhury were present and they handed over the trophies.
However, NEEDS, the organisers of the championship informed that as one of the players of the Pachim Guwahati College could not submit his college documents so that the champion�s trophy was held up. If he can�t submit the documents tomorrow by 4 pm, the LNIPE will be declared as winners, informed the organisers.
