Paban Kaideuo is no more

SIVASAGAR, Feb 13 � Paban Borgohain, popularly known as Paban kaideuo, the father figure of Sivasagar Sports Association, a popular personality, revered by one and all in the State, is no more. He died at 8 am this morning in his Amolapatty residence. Born in 1929, Paban Borgohain was the dominant figure in the football fields of Sivasagar for many decades, represented the State in the Santosh Trophy for eight consecutive years since 1952, was a member of the Sivasagar Amateur Football Club that locked horns with the mighty Md Sporting Club and almost won the game in Kolkata in a match in the fifties.

Borgohain was an employee of ASTC and retired in 1990 . He leaves behind three sons and his wife. His last rites were performed in Thanaghat crematorium amidst hundreds of his admirers. He death was mourned by over seventy socio-cultural and sports association, Sivasagar district administration, Asom Natya Sanmilan and Asom Sahitya Sabha.

Sports reporter adds: The death of Paban Borgohain was deeply mourned by the sporting fraternity of Guwahati. The Assam Football Association and Assam Cricket Association have kept their flags at half mast in respect of the departed soul.

AFA secretary Ankur Dutta, former internationals Taibun Nesa, Babul Phukan, Assam Sepak Takraw Association president Sarat Borkotoky, secretary Bishnu Nunisa and several other sports organisers condoled the death of Borgohain.
