RAHA, April 25 - In today�s digital era, the websites play an important role in disseminating information, provided the data are updated periodically. However, anyone visiting the website of Nagaon district can fall prey to misguided information and blunders, if they are not careful enough to recheck the authenticity of the same, as many of the data in the website are not updated for long.
The Nagaon district administration�s website, www.nagaon.nic.in, maintained by the National Informatics Centre (NIC), continues to carry outdated and incomplete information. For example, on the Nagaon district administration page, accessible by clicking the �Nagaon district administration� option on the menu bar on the home page, the district administration says Dr Bhaven Bordoloi is Superintendent of BP Civil Hospital, Nagaon, while Bordoloi is at present the joint director, Health and Family Welfare, Kamrup ( Metro) district. There is no information on the website about who is the present superintendent of the hospital.
Again, according to the website, the O/C of Raha police station is Arun Bora, whereas the said incharge no longer belongs to the police station. He was transferred from Raha several years ago. What is more ridiculous is that the website still mentions Dipak Bora as the O/C of Raha PS whereas Sonmoni Saikia is serving the post for the last two years.
Information about educational institutions, the page, accessible under �Educational Institutions� menu on the home page, mentions Hibjur Rahman as the Principal of Raha College. What is most shocking is that the said principal passed away in 2011.
