GUWAHATI, Aug 2 - Leader of Opposition in the Assam Legislative Assembly Debabrata Saikia today accused the State government of contempt of court for publicly sharing sensitive information related to the NRC update process and said he will approach the Supreme Court over the issue.
Pointing to the discussion that took place regarding the NRC in the Legislative Assembly yesterday, Saikia said during the course, the State government disclosed many sensitive information.
He alleged that the government's action in this regard was against the directions issued by the apex court.
Saikia said he will write to the Supreme Court in this matter. The senior Congress leader accused the government of playing politics over NRC. He also said the NRC update exercise should not get delayed any further.
