Only 4 malaria deaths in Mizoram in 2017

AIZAWL, April 26 - Malaria deaths in Mizoram has come down and only four persons have died of the disease in 2017 in the State, a Health department release said on World Malaria Day on Wednesday.

Nine persons died of malaria in 2016, while in 2015 and 2014 the number of malaria deaths was 21 and 31 respectively, the release said.

It said 426 people were found to be infected with malaria this year till March, but no one of them have died so far. The statement said malaria is no longer the main killer disease in the State and efforts are on to eradicate malaria by 2030. � PTI
