Online attendance system introduced in MK College

GUWAHATI, Aug 5 - For the first time ever in Assam, online students� attendance system was introduced in Madhya Kamrup College at Chenga in Barpeta district on Wednesday, an e-mail received here stated.

The system was inaugurated by Prof Bhabesh Chandra Goswami, Vice-Chancellor of Cotton University. Prof Goswami in his inaugural speech termed this endeavour of the college as one adding a new dimension to the larger academic scenario of the State and hoped that this system would certainly help in improving the academic atmosphere of the college.

He also said that digitalisation of the attendance system would help in maintenance of punctuality along with proper record of classes held. He praised Dr Harendra Nath Talukdar, Principal-in-charge of the college, for initiating such a step for uplift of academics in the college.

Dr Debahari Talukdar, Deputy Controller of Examinations, Gauhati University also addressed the gathering. He welcomed the initiative of the college authority and said that he would soon discuss if such a system might be introduced at the varsity level in the near future. He hoped that other colleges would also follow the example set by Madhya Kamrup College in this regard.

Dr Harendra Nath Talukdar in his speech informed the gathering that efforts were under way to add a new dimension to the teaching-learning process.

The meeting was attended by the teachers, students as well as officials of the college. Dr Suranjan Sarma and Dr Chand Mahammad Ali, two former Principals of the college along with Dr Gopesh Sarma from the Department of History also addressed the gathering.
