DHUBRI, Feb 26 - Police on Friday busted a gang of kidnappers and rescued one Ainul Haque, who was abducted from Chirang district recently.

In an operation led by Bilasipara SDPO Nirupam Hazarika, police rescued Haque from a house located on the outskirts of Nayahat area and apprehended three persons, namely Motiur Rahman, Monitor Ali and Sohidul Islam in this connection.

Police informed that the trio were earlier involved in several other kidnapping cases too.

�Based on specific inputs, the kidnappers were apprehended along with another person from Nayahat area and from Hardemara village under Chapar Police Station,� said Hazarika. �These four are part of a large gang which is involved in several other similar cases. They were also involved in the recent Gauripur kidnapping case,� he added.

Meanwhile, in another case, Dhubri Police seized a consignment of six cartoons of phensedyl that was illegally transported by a private courier service. Police said that the consignment was addressed to Bahadur Pharma, a pharmacy in Chapar.

�As the consignment was addressed to a pharmacy, while the quantity was too large for a pharmacy, hence we took up the matter for investigation. The owner of the pharmacy is, however, yet to be traced,� informed Dhubri OC Pradip Kumar Das.
