IMPHAL, June 28 At least one person was reported missing in rushing flood waters while many families were forced to take shelters at relief camps in Jiribam even as two bridges connecting Tousem were washed away in heavy downpour experienced in the last few days.

Jiribam and Tousem are subdivisional headquarters of Imphal East and Tamenglong districts of Manipur.

The incessant rains in the past few days have flooded almost half of Jiribam subdivision including Kalinagar, Babupara, Dibong, Sanakhong, Islamabad, Chamapanagar, Ningthembam, Patchao, Lalpani, Lakhipur, Kamranga, Khoichoithup and Hilghat.

Survey is being conducted to identify the areas affected by flood and its severity, according to ADC Y Iboyaima of Jiribam. As soon as the survey is completed, the government will begin supplying relief materials and other helps.

Similarly, all major rivers running through Imphal town have overflowed causing flood in certain areas following continuous rain in the State for the last couple of days.
