KOKRAJHAR, Oct 22 - The Session Judge of Kokrajhar PK Bora, has held one Sahjamal Ali guilty under Section 376 IPC and ordered to suffer 10 years rigorous imprisonment and fine of Rs 5000 and in default further rigorous imprisonment for three months, in Session Case No-86/2015 in the matter of State vs Md Sahjamal Ali and two others recently.
The Session Judge, Kokrajhar has also ordered the State Government to pay a compensation of Rs 50,000 to the victim girl through the District Legal Services Authority, Kokrajhar.
The case was registered on 11/08/2011 on the basis of a written complaint of the victim girl at Gossaigaon Police Station who stated that five-six months before the date of filing of the FIR, in her house taking advantage of absence of the house mate she was raped by the accused Sahjamal Ali. Thereafter on the pretext of marrying her, the accused induced her to indulge in sexual acts with her.
The police registered a case against the accused and following investigation chargsheeted the accused in the FIR under Section 376/417 of IPC.
This sensational case was committed to the Sessions Court, Kokrajhar and the Session Court gave the judgment recently.The prosecution examined as many as eight witnesses in this case.
