OIL�s well control tech institute opened

DIBRUGARH, June 18 � Oil India Limited�s (OIL) Institute of Well Control Technology was inaugurated today at Duliajan in the presence of BN Talukdar, Director (E&D), NK Bharali, Director (HR&BD), S Rath, Director (O), NK Agarwal, Resident Chief Executive, KK Nath, ED (E&D), P Borgohain, GM (OD&RS) and other senior officials. The foundation stone of the new building of the institute was also laid today.

Complimenting the efforts of NK Bharali and the core team involved with this project, Talukdar mentioned that the institute will be a great asset to the exploration &production sector professionals, especially drilling and production group engineers, to enhance their knowledge and expertise which will be benchmarked with the best in the business globally after undergoing such internationally recognized certificate training programme. Talukdar also inaugurated today the maiden course on Well Intervention Pressure Control which will end on June 22, 2012.

The institute will conduct the Rotary Drilling Well Control Course and the Well Intervention Pressure Control Course as per IWCF certification syllabus. The drilling simulator, one of most crucial and sophisticated training tools, is expected to be installed within August, 2012.

The institute, christened Institute of Well Control Technology, which is fourth of its kind in India and first in eastern India, will provide Well Control Certification programmes accredited by International Well Control Forum (IWCF), a legally-constituted non-profit-making organization registered at the Dutch Chamber of Commerce in The Hague, the Netherlands.

This institute is the result of the efforts of OIL management to provide world class technology, training and exposure to its employees. Sanjib Gogoi, Deputy Chief Engineer, Drilling, OIL, will be at the helm of the institute as Technical Coordinator & Chief Instructor, while the rest of the instructors have been drawn from OIL�s Drilling and Production departments. Although the institute presently would be training OIL personnel, it has a provision for extending the services to outside agencies and individuals in the future.
